The Eno River Fellowship Foundation (ERFF) is a permanent endowment fund, created in 1989. Giving to the Foundation enables individuals to provide lasting financial support for the mission of ERUUF. The Foundation is a qualified nonprofit organization (501[c]3) and is independent of ERUUF, with its own bylaws and board of directors.
Contributions made to the Foundation are tax deductible as allowable by law and are to be directed specifically to the Eno River Fellowship Foundation. Please note the name of the Foundation on your documents directing your intentions. Gifts or bequests mistakenly directed to ERUUF are not transferable to the Foundation
The Foundation Board seeks to fund creative proposals describing projects that align with one or more of ERUUF’s Strategic Vision Goals, which are as follows:
- Engage members as a Beloved Community to live our UU Principles
- Create pathways for spreading justice and the light of our liberal religion
- Create a culture where racial equity and inclusion is the norm
- Build ERUUF’s organizational capacity
The Eno River Fellowship Foundation is named as a beneficiary in the wills, trusts, and insurance policies of several ERUUF members. Gifts of cash are made by individuals as memorials or tributes to a person, celebrations of important events, legacies in planned giving, and during special appeals. Donations made to the Foundation are tax deductible as allowable by law. Please consult with your tax and legal advisors for a full discussion of tax implications for gifts.
In 1988 Bill and Fran Hollister expressed their wish to build a memorial garden at ERUUF's (then) new and permanent site on Garrett Road. The expense of the garden and its continuous care required funding not represented in the annual operating budget. A group of ERUUF leaders considered options available, with a structure that would support the memorial garden plus other projects at ERUUF. The Eno River Fellowship Foundation was the result.
