ERUUF Coronavirus Updates

Campus Update: September 24, 2020

It's great news that cases of COVID-19 and hospitalizations, in general, are falling in North Carolina, and it's encouraging to see that some universities are managing to educate students while keeping outbreaks at a minimum (bravo Duke!). And as we learn more each day about this disease, it's clear that we need to remain vigilant and continue to "wash, wear, and wait six feet apart" until an effective vaccine becomes widely available. And as we head into flu season, it seems wise if we continue to meet mainly online, with the exception of outdoor meetings with social distancing and the use of masks and hand sanitizer. We know how hard it is to remain mostly online and at a distance, but with the advent of flu season, this seems like the wisest action to take given the nature of most of our programs.

Donate Sanctuary Flowers in 2020

ERUUFians gather each Sunday to build community. Flowers are a special part of each service, a focal point for reflection, evidence of member generosity, and an opportunity to share memories and values. Consider donating flowers one Sunday in 2020 in memory of someone special or to celebrate an occasion you’d like to share with fellow congregants.
To learn more or to sign up, visit the ERUUF Flower information station located on the counter in the ERUUF Art Gallery, or email the Flower Team.

ERUUF Christian Fellowship adopts new Statement of Faith

The members of the ERUUF Christian Fellowship (ECF) have written a new statement of faith based on our values both as Unitarian Universalists and followers of Jesus's teachings. The ECF uses the statement during our meetings, along with the seven UU Principles, as reminders of the spiritual and life paths we strive to walk. ECF members share this statement with the larger Fellowship as an example of  how we find the Sources and Principles work together to inform our spiritual journey.

Practicing Generosity Beyond the Holiday Season

It's the holiday season, and there are plenty of extra opportunities to practice generosity here at ERUUF, including Share Your Christmas, a Sock Hop for Urban Ministries, and a Poinsettia Sale to benefit the Coming of Age Youth. Beyond the holidays, there are a wide variety of jobs supporting the Urban Ministries homeless shelter such as making dinners, baking cookies and more!

More than once in recent months I’ve come across this beautiful calendar from 17th century Japan. It was created in 1685 by the court astronomer, Shibukawa Shunkai, who noted 24 distinct seasons based on natural phenomena ranging from Risshun (B...
